Doing more for less? Status insecurity and the UK’s contribution to European security after Brexit

Advancing the literature on status in world politics, this article argues that Brexit generated insecurity for UK. In order to deal with consequences of shock represented by Brexit, UK sought address two ways. Firstly, it pursued more modes engagement European security simultaneously. It continued play a leadership role NATO, and deepened bilateral cooperation individual countries. Secondly, also articulated its willingness be treated differently any other third party advancing ‘Global Britain’ as framework post-Brexit foreign policy, opening up space involvement EU defence initiatives.
